Affordable accommodations for CSULB students and alumni
Beachview provides and maintains residential units in Long Beach for enrolled CSULB students and for alumni within two years of graduation. Rents are set below prevailing market rates for comparable units.
Our current property is an eight-unit apartment building in Long Beach housing sixteen residents, two per unit. Each resident pays $750 per month, or $1,500 per unit, while comparable units in the surrounding market lease for $1,800 to $2,200. That $300 to $700 monthly gap per unit is the subsidy the organization provides through its own operations, before any scholarship.
What residents can expect beyond a lease
Tenant scholarships
Residents may apply for scholarships awarded as book grants or tuition grants. Awards are made by the board under a written selection policy based on need and academic standing.
Student success
Quiet study space, peer tutoring referrals, and help navigating campus support: financial aid, basic-needs programs, and counseling.
Well-being
Stable tenancy terms aligned to the academic calendar, clear house rules, and a maintenance response standard so housing problems don't become academic ones.
Community connection
Resident and alumni events, a mentoring bridge between graduates and current students, and ties to Long Beach civic and employer networks.
Who we serve
Current CSULB students in good standing, and CSULB alumni within two years of graduation. Priority criteria (for example, demonstrated housing need or financial need) are adopted by the board and published here once final.
